Do you want to update your skills but don’t know where to start? Nervous because you’ve not worked for a while? Don’t know how to set about finding a job or getting a qualification? Left school without any GCSEs? Then nextstep can help.
What is nextstep?
nextstep is a free friendly service that offers face-to-face help and support about training, learning and the world of work.
What can nextstep offer?
Just about everybody needs help with improving their skills, finding or changing their job and improving their skills at some point in their lives.
Your personal nextstep adviser will talk with you in confidence to help you plan your future by linking your personal interests and skills to a job or career.
Your adviser will also help you:
- understand the job market
- search and apply for jobs
- find funding to support any learning
- develop your CV
- improve your interview and presentation skills
- by suggesting ways to progress in your current job
Who can use nextstep services?
If you are aged 20 or over, you can use the nextstep service.
How to make an appointment
Use the nextstep service finder to get the phone number and address of your local nextstep office.
Then just phone or email to make an appointment at a time that suits you.
What can nextstep offer?
Help with reading, writing and maths
Lots of people find they are not in the job they want because they don’t feel confident about their reading, writing or maths.
nextstep can help point you in the right direction to improve your skills - and tell you what financial support is available while you learn.
Identify your skills
As well as helping you to identify the skills you want to improve, nextstep can also help you write a CV that describes them clearly – and prepares you for job interviews.
